Stayin' alive, Stayin' alive---HA HA HA HA...

If you don't understand my title, 1)Listen to the Bee Gees, and 2) Take a CPR class….

Alright guys, it's February (and wow, has been for 17 days now, nice Krissy)--and that means it's Heart Health Month!

To get serious on GoForkYourselves.com--Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for both men and woman--heart disease can spur out of things like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, and smoking.  So, you can see where I'm going with this right?  This stuff is TOTALLY PREVENTABLE, but you've got to do the legwork.

The good news is, if you're on my blog, chances are you've already taken steps to living a healthier lifestyle.  If you haven't the good news is the advice is really fucking simple 1)Eat a healthy diet most of the time and 2)exercise.

Bam--easy right?  Psh, not always.  Even for me being on my road to health for almost 5 years now, I still pull over and make a pit stop for shit food.   You know, and that's okay…as long as you limit the junk food that you put into your body.  I usually try to reserve one dinner a week to a "BAD" indulgence--that being pizza or calzone usually..because, I mean..if you're going to indulge, you might as well do it right.  I could actually be the worse role model ever.

This leads me into my first giveaway in a line of THREE.   Since become a new ambassador to EnergyBits  We have teamed up for this prize :) Yay, freebies!  A word from out sponsor (so official!):

"Our algae tabs are quickly becoming recognized as the easiest, fastest, safest and most natural way to lower blood pressure and heart disease and are even being recommended to patients by cardiologists. This is because ENERGYbits® and SKINNYbits® are 100% organically grown spirulina algae which is loaded with heart healthy Essential Fatty Acids like Omega 3 and GLA which reduce inflammation in blood vessels. This helps blood to flow easily and heals the blood vessels so blood pressure and the chance of heart attack or stroke are reduced. Swallow (or chew) at least 30 tabs a day to experience all the health benefits that Mother Nature intended you to have from algae. This Valentines Day (and every day), love your heart to bits with ENERGYbits® and SKINNYbits®"

So, that brings us here!  The Giveaway!  Enter below, you put entries in everyday--I'll pick the winner March 2nd (Because I love the number 2, and that's that.).
a Rafflecopter giveaway

Fun stuff, right? So enter away--and in the mean time, do all you can do for your heart.  You only get one go 'round on the ridiculous/fun/crazy/disappointing/fucking fantastic carousel we call life.  Even though it takes everyone their own time to process the fact--it is precious.  That being said--it's time for me to get my ass up and moving.

I don't believe in Peter Pan, Frakenstein, or Superman--All I wanna do is...

...BICYCLE!  (If you don't get the reference, we probably shouldn't be friends.)

So, the other day I was downtown with my mother and brother-in-law to check out bikes.  It was my bro-in-law's birthday, and he decided he wanted a bike.  Cool beans!  We went to 5th Street here in Austin to the AWESOME AustinBikes.   These guys were super cool and crazy knowledgeable--and they let us test ride some bikes.

I fell in love!  I wasn't even shopping for a bike, but the second I started rolling the feeling of being 12 years old came screaming back to me.  All I could think of was...."I need a bike."  However, I couldn't spend the $585 on this hybrid Scott I was riding around.

Really, I couldn't afford anything in the shop.  And that's okay!  I will go back to AustinBike when I have given a commitment to riding around seriously.  For now, however, I just needed (WANTED) a beater bike I could use as a jumping off point.

So, this morning, I went on Craigslist, perused and emailed everyone with a bike that was $70 bucks or under.  I got one email back within 5 minutes, a red Magna (I think it's just a Target brand, but no idea), that was barely used--15-speed.  I got the guy to agree to drop it off (sweet!) AND drop the price to $50 (with a pricetag still attached the bike, I was cool with that.).  He brought it by, and it was exactly what I expected.  A basic bike.  I got up on it and rode around the block and was immediately overjoyed at my purchase.  Got back home, made some tweaks to the brakes, oiled up the chain a bit, pumped the tires.  Done and done. Is it still a total piece of shit? Totally.  Do I love it already? Absolutely.

My little POS beater :)

It makes me miss my kickass old Schwinn Mountain bike that my dad bought me when I was 12--Before Huffy or Walmart bought the brand.  That bad boy was $600 and kicked ass.  I decided that if I can commit some real miles to this beater, by my birthday I'd love to get a Diamondback Hybrid.

In specific:

The Diamondback Insight 2.....pretty fucking sweet, right?

I feel like a lot of you will question my running--relax 1) I love running 2)I have waaaaay too many running shoes and gadgets justify not doing it.   It's just fun to have another thing to go between.  Break up any monotony, you know?  Monotony is a mother-fucker.

I think I'm gonna hop on Amazon, pick up a little basket for the front so I can take it the grocery store or Walgreens if we need something small.  Sounds fun.

Anyways, that's all for now guys.  I have another post ready to roll tomorrow--Giveaways galore coming up in the next two months!  If you love EnergyBits or SkinnyBits---You'll dig my first giveaway....More to come....Stay tuned peep-eroonis.  :)

Giveaways!!!

Hi guys!

Time for giveaways again--yay :)

I've got two coming up, one for February, one for March--So stay tuned :)

Working with two great companies for these *drumroll*.....

Chobani  AND RoadRunner Sports!

Be psyched--I don't advocate for products I don't like/I don't think work amazing/too much money...blah, blah, blah.  I eat Chobani at lunch every day, and should probably have direct deposit sent to RRS, because all my money goes there :)

Anyways--just a heads up--good stuff coming down the pipe here at Go Fork Yourselves.

Peace, love, and go fork yourselves,

Krissy<3
